Scouts Australia is one of the largest youth development organisations in Australia and has 70,000 members nation  wide. Their key purpose is to develop character, resilience and leadership in young people and in order for this to be done successfully, Scouts Australia requires high quality training of its 14,000 adult volunteer leaders. To achieve this, Scouts Australia has developed two training streams: The Adult Training and Development program (ATD) which is designed to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for each Scouting leadership role, and the Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT), a registered training organisation. SAIT aims to enable those who have already completed the ATD program the ability to seek externally accredited qualifications through a Recognition of Prior Learning and Assessment process (a unique feature to Scouts Australia). These accredited qualifications are drawn from the Business Services and Sports, Fitness and Recreation Training Packages.

Approximately 5,000 adults (both in ATD & SAIT) participated in Scouts Australia training programs during 2014. As well as experiencing an increase in candidates, late 2014 saw Scouts Australia need to prepare for the Unique Student Identifier (USI) number scheme before this became a requirement for all Registered Training Organisations in 2015. Because of this and the influx of new candidates, Scouts Australia sought to partner with our student management system aXcelerate. Furthermore, Scouts Australia have training branches across Australia and thus required a system which could manage and capture all accredited training and qualifications into a national register.

To meet these needs, Scouts Australia have utilised our CRM functions and reporting tools in order to capture all AVETMISS, USI and qualification information for each candidate in a simpler, streamlined process. Also, Scouts Australia have been able to apply aXcelerate’s survey tools to help improve their quality assurance areas and have made auditing more manageable. Furthermore, aXcelerate has been able to provide a compliant reporting system that is flexible enough to adapt to the requirements of each individual State Branch, while still maintaining a consistent contacts and reporting framework across the whole organisation. This has enabled Scouts Australia to improve their business operations on a national level especially in regards to the accredited training area.

The implementation of aXcelerate within Scouts Australia commenced this year across all branches. Due to the extent and detail of the system, the main priority for both Scouts Australia and aXcelerate has been to ensure that all frontline staff have a firm grasp on the system. Due to time restraints, the transition from their previous system to aXcelerate has had a few small hurdles. However our implementation team is working hard with Scouts Australia to iron out any kinks and ensure all frontline staff can fully utilise aXcelerate’s features. To date, training support administrators from Scouts Australia’s key branches have already moved away from a predominantly paper based system as they begin to use aXcelerate on a day-to-day basis.

aXcelerate are excited to support Scouts Australia as they continue to develop their successful business. In particular we look forward to assisting them in designing and building specific SAIT reporting features that they can present to National Committee Meetings. These will demonstrate SAIT’s progress and help set objectives for future development.

aXcelerate are proud supporters of the work Scouts Australia do within the community and are excited to continue to help manage their training processes.
