Background
As many graduating students braving the new world of the workforce will tell you, finding and landing your first job can be a daunting and difficult process. Competition is rife with eager and enthusiastic graduates, who all have the same qualifications and knowledge base as yourself and it suddenly becomes imperative to be able to differentiate yourself from the crowd.
Many argue this differentiation comes from experience in your chosen industry; that being able to develop on-the-job skills and a greater understanding of your industry goes just as far in making you employable as the necessary courses and qualifications.
One particular college that understands the importance of hands on experience is
Australian Careers Business College (ACBC), who have made it one of the key drivers of their organisation.
ACBC is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which focuses on preparing students for their future careers in Accounting, Business Administration, Children’s Services, Counselling, IT, Marketing, Legal Services and Travel & Tourism. Since establishing the college in 1996, ACBC have had more than 5000 students graduate and go on to pursue rewarding careers within the business sector.
The most popular courses delivered at ACBC have been Children’s Services, Marketing and Legal Services. To ensure their graduates are properly prepared for careers in these areas, ACBC focus on enhancing their employability skills through work experience, mentoring schemes and networking opportunities. These work experience options are in addition to the assessment requirements and theory offered, in order to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience overall for their students. ACBC’s Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses also offer students the option of earning credit points towards Bachelor Degrees at leading universities, should they wish to extend their knowledge and learning further.
Solution
Since establishing itself in 1996, ACBC have experienced steady growth across their three campuses; Liverpool, Parramatta and Wollongong. In order to manage this growth effectively and keep track of prospects and current clients across these campuses, ACBC sought out a student management system. Once signing with aXcelerate, both ACBC and aXcelerate worked together to develop processes to ensure ACBC can best utilise aXcelerate’s CRM capability and record and store all current and prospective student data within their system.
Because ACBC is an RTO and is passionate about delivering quality training to their students, another key focus of theirs is compliance. To this end, aXcelerate have worked hard to create and build upon our reporting features in order to ensure we can meet ACBC’s reporting requirements, especially in terms of AVETMISS reporting.
Looking to the Future
Since starting this project, the initial scope has grown as aXcelerate have better understood the needs of ACBC and how best to serve them. We look forward to continuing this partnership with ACBC and enhancing our reporting and CRM capability even further in order to meet ACBC’s operational and compliance needs. A particular focus will be on developing some customisations within the aXcelerate report builder in order to make the reporting process a quick and simple one for ACBC and other RTO’s.
