While public emergency situations are an infrequent occurrence for the majority of us, you can never predict when you may be faced with one. Often the ability to respond quickly and perform emergency practices like Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), can be the difference between life and death. Which is why here at aXcelerate, we wish to acknowledge the educators of these emergency practices and emphasise the importance first aid training plays in our community.

Consequently, this week we thought we would highlight the positive contributions of one of our biggest first aid clients, Australia Wide First Aid….

Australia Wide First Aid (originally known as Queensland First Aid) began its operations in 1975, as a provider of first aid supplies to Queensland individuals and corporations. They then expanded to include first aid training in 2008. Due to vast growth and popularity, Queensland First Aid became Australia Wide First Aid in late 2011 and the organisation is now a nationally recognised training organisation, spanning across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. Australia Wide now has a total of 58 trainers delivering accredited first aid training and are currently using aXcelerate to help streamline their administrative and student enrolment processes, in order to enhance efficiency in delivering this training across multiple states.

They have been honoured to train thousands of organisations, ranging from large corporate organisations like Man Power, local organisations like United Community Care, a wide range of schools, childcare staff and charities.

Recently Australia Wide First Aid participated in the Leukaemia Foundations’ ‘Light the Night’ walkathon fundraising event, hosted in numerous locations throughout Australia, to raise funds for blood cancer research. Australia Wide First Aid is a passionate supporter of the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland and has helped provide the organisation with first aid supplies, education and training.
To ensure that all first aid training is effective and relevant to the vast range of ‘students’ attending first aid , the theoretical and practical elements are often tailored to relate to the particular students in the classroom. For example, a group of students from a construction background would focus on potential dangers present on a building site, where as parents or childcare educators may focus more on the potential dangers in the schoolyard or home.

Regardless of the range of students, each training session is providing community members with the confidence and the knowledge that could potentially save a life. Furthermore, in 2015 Australia Wide First Aid wishes to expand on this by aiming to educate at least 60,000 people in the art of saving a life. Their focus will particularly be on educating Australian families on the importance of having more than one first aider in the home. They will also aim to focus on educating Australian organisations in the need to have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the workplace. By improving the awareness, reliability and accessibility of AED’s, especially in the general community and in workplaces, the survival rates of those suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest and heart attack will undoubtedly improve.

Australia Wide First Aid is only one of our many aXcelerate first aid clients that provide ongoing medical support to our community. aXcelerate would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Australia Wide First Aid and all of our first aid clients on the positive work they do for the community. We wish them the greatest success for the future!
