Background

Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) is Australasia’s leading not-for-profit practical conservation organisation. CVA aims to protect and promote a healthy and sustainable environment by attracting volunteers to participate in projects that protect and enhance the environment and heritage of Australia.

One project is the Green Army, an environmental initiative run by CVA in conjunction with the Australian Government and aimed at participants aged 17 to 24. The program is designed to provide accredited training to participants in First Aid, Workplace Health and Safety and project specific Units of Competency, while simultaneously working together on preservation and conservation projects across Australia. Currently there are 250 CVA courses within the Green Army that a participant can choose from, with plans to launch and offer additional projects over the next 12 months. Solutions

In 2015, the Green Army’s student enrolments will reach 2,500, an increase of more than 1000 from previous years. To help manage this influx of students, CVA partnered with aXcelerate.

In this time CVA have been utilising aXcelerate’s Customer Relationship Management ability and reporting tools in order to effectively manage their student records and simplify their reporting and compliance requirements. This is especially important in regard to AVETMISS – the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard. While learning a new software system can be daunting, CVA have been able to implement the system and resolve any issues effectively as a result of the level of service and communication that aXcelerate has provided.

Looking to the future

The learning process with aXcelerate is ongoing for CVA and they are continuing to learn new features to incorporate into and enhance the day-to-day operations. In particular, CVA is eager to develop their e-learning capacity within conservation and land management, as well as be more proactive in management training. aXcelerate are excited to help facilitate these goals, especially exploring options relating to e-learning and looking forward to continue working with CVA in order to further grow their organisation.

aXcelerate are proud supporters of Conservation Volunteers Australia and congratulate them on all the work they are doing within communities, parks & reserves, coasts & waterways and landscapes across Australia.

Outside of the Green Army, Conservation Volunteers Australia conduct a range of projects in conjunction with regional councils, national parks, museums and landcare groups to help protect and preserve wildlife, flora and fauna in locations across Australia.
