The season of VET conferences’ has officially started, with the ACPET national conference kicking things off in Hobart, Tasmania. Both Chris, our Business Development Manager and Katie, our Implementation Manager were lucky enough to demonstrate our student management system over the two days held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel, Hobart.

Each year, the ACPET conference represents almost 1200 (and counting) members in Higher Education, Vocational Education, English language and foundation courses. It is the largest gathering of private and not-for-profit educators in Australia and aims to provide attendees with the opportunity for networking, professional development and open dialogue on how to further develop the VET sector.

The theme for this year’s conference revolved around innovation, specifically ‘creating knowledge, skills and futures through innovation’ and featured a number of guest speakers and panels which focused on new research, tools and technology within the education sphere that could improve the current state of vocational education and training. Highlights from the two days were ‘the big debate’ on the future architecture of Tertiary Education in Australia. This debate was facilitated by Journalist Quentin Dempster, while significant members of the VET sector such as Andrew Norton (Chair of Competition Policy Review) and Stephen Conway (CEO of TasTAFE)  were invited to weigh in on the topic. An afternoon session headed by Catherine Capuana McManus on the future of technology and the implications of digital disruption for the workforce also proved to be popular with attendants. The session included a panel of industry experts, who reflected on what employers need from education and training providers to develop the future workforce, to innovate and to transition the economy towards prosperity.

The conference was a perfect opportunity for aXcelerate to demonstrate the new features in our student management system aimed at facilitating these coming changes to the education and training industry. Chris and Katie were able to show stand visitors our brand new calendar updates, developments for CRICOS students, tools to aid AVETMISS reporting, and the workflow automation feature; which has the ability to automate administrative and operational tasks created by an organisation.

ACPET also provided both Chris and Katie with the chance to catch up with many of our older and valued clients, as well as connect with prospective new clients and other like-minded professionals in the industry. The conference was a melting pot for ideas, and aXcelerate have definitely come away from the experience with even more ways to develop our system, based on the feedback and thoughts expressed during the multiple sessions.

Finally, Chris and Katie and the rest of the aXcelerate team would like to give a big thank you to all of our clients who visited the aXcelerate booth over the two days. Our team always enjoy the chance to catch up and see how you’re travelling with the system and are always appreciative of your support.
